Kings Ransom Sedona Hotel Announces Harvest Happenings
Early October 2006 Edition

by Laura Conner

With cooler temperatures and changing leaves, many agree that Fall is the best time to visit Sedona. And the word is getting out that the Kings Ransom Sedona Hotel is the best place to stay. The hotel was completely full in late September, so be sure to book early for your October visit. This recently renovated boutique hotel features numerous luxury in-room amenities and a huge heated pool in the center of a 1-acre central terrace. Their surprisingly affordable prices mean you’ll have more to spend on harvest time fun.

Bite into a crisp, juicy apple at the 2nd Annual Slide Rock Apple Festival. The Kings Ransom Sedona Hotel takes pride in being “family friendly” and “family affordable.” So bring the kids and join the festive fun at Slide Rock State Park on Saturday October 14th from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Slide Rock State Park is the all-time favorite tourist destination in scenic Oak Creek Canyon. Here’s your chance to learn about the history of the Pendley Family Homestead by taking the “Homestead Walk.” You can experience the colors of the changing leaves up close and personal on the “Canyon Colors Walk.” The Apple Festival will feature live music, works by plein air artists, and ice cream served up by fireman from the Sedona Fire Department. There will also be a silent auction to benefit the Park. The festival is free to the public, but regular Park admission fees will apply.

Looking for more fruits of the harvest? Then plan to attend the 2nd Annual “Celebration of the Harvest” on Saturday October 14th. This event features appetizers from Sedona’s top chefs, wine tasting from local and national wineries, live music, works by Sedona Arts Center juried artists, and a silent auction featuring a Caribbean cruise. You can work off those extra calories with a hike along “Marge’s Draw,” one of the oldest and best-loved hiking trails in Sedona. The trailhead is located directly behind the Kings Ransom Sedona Hotel. As a hotel guest, you’ll have no parking hassles and there’s no need to purchase a Red Rock Pass. All you’ll need to bring is a camera, a bottle of water, and open eyes and heart for taking in the magnificent Fall splendor among the Red Rocks.

Get into the spirit of the harvest! Avalon Gardens, an Aquarian Concepts Community, will be hosting their “Halo-Win Fall Harvest Fest” on Sunday October 29th. Their organic fruit, vegetable, and livestock farm and ecovillage is situated on 21 acres along beautiful Oak Creek. They received the Keep Sedona Beautiful Award of Merit in 2005 for exemplary landscaping based on principles of sustainability. The event will feature a garden tour at 11:00 am, a harvest feast at 12:00 noon, live music from Global Change record label artists at 12:45 p.m., and a second garden tour at 2:00 p.m. After a day on the farm, it’s time to relax time in the covered spa on the hotel’s terrace. Let the bubbles ease you into a sunset state of mind.

The concierge services at the Kings Ransom Sedona Hotel are pleased to help you plan these and other area activities. They’ll make sure you’ll harvest loads of happy memories during your stay in Sedona.
