Kings Ransom Sedona Hotel
Presents Halloween Happenings

by Laura Conner

Special Halloween 2006 Edition

The Kings Ransom Sedona Hotel prides itself in being a “family friendly” establishment. Its affordable luxury is also easy on a family’s budget. So kids of all ages can treat themselves to a special Halloween getaway in Sedona.

Looking for encounters of the ghostly kind? Then you’ll get a kick out of Jerome, AZ -- a former mining camp, turned ghost town, and now artist colony. Halloween weekend is a great time to visit this quaint town with its tainted and colorful history of bordellos, murders, and ghosts. During its heyday, Jerome was called the “wickedest city in America.” But the fame nowadays comes from its acclaimed restaurants, rustic bars, and unique art galleries. Jerome is less than an hours’ drive from your room at the Kings Ransom Sedona Hotel. If your little goblins are still full of energy after the excursion, let them burn it off in the oversized heated pool and spa at the Kings Ransom Sedona Hotel. In October, the days are still sunshiny and warm enough to keep everyone happily splashing for hours.

Calling all witches and warlocks! On October 31st, the Verde Canyon Railway features their “Haunted Halloween Express.” The train departs at 12:00 noon. Everyone is invited to enter the on-board costume contest. Prizes will be awarded for the funniest and scariest costumes in both kid and adult categories. Enjoy the fabulous fall scenery and have some spooktacular fun at the same time. Then return to your “home away from home” at the Kings Ransom Sedona Hotel, and treat yourself to a 360-degree view of the Red Rocks as they magically light up with the colors of sunset.

It’s all treats in Uptown Sedona. On Halloween evening, October 31st from 5:00-8:00 p.m., the merchants of Uptown Sedona will keep their stores open late for the 20th Annual “Safe and Fun Trick or Treat.” Merchants will be passing out treats to all the little ghouls who stop by in their costumes. Parents will be glad to know this is a safe venue for their pint-sized trick or treaters. You’ll get to browse in the shops while your kids are showing off their costumes. And best of all, Uptown Sedona is just a few minutes from your luxuriously appointed room at the Kings Ransom Sedona Hotel. That means more time for moonlight madness.
